Not every no cooling call is a breakdown

Most calls about warm air come down to a failed part, a clogged drain, or a system that is overdue for maintenance. On a recent call in Perry, the cause was different.

The owner was out of town, and when our technician arrived he found that someone had taken the unit apart and stolen the fan motor and the fan.

Why the system could not cool

An air conditioner moves heat out of the building through the outdoor coil, and the fan pulls air across that coil to carry the heat away. With the fan motor and fan gone, that heat has nowhere to go, so the system cannot cool.

Replacing those parts means getting the correct components for that unit, so this was not something our technician could repair on that visit.

How we documented the job

Our technician photographed the unit nameplate and the missing pieces during the visit. The nameplate lists the model and electrical details of the unit, which helps identify the right replacement parts.

He then called the owner directly to explain what had happened and that the system could not be fixed at that time.

What the owner received

The owner was given a quote to repair the system and was satisfied with it. When he came by our office, he picked up the invoice to submit to the church.
